Game of Thrones was originally a book series written by George RR Martin and was later turned into an HBO television series. Game of Thrones is a fantasy series with a renaissance theme. The series follows multiple story lines all intertwined with the Westeros Throne. The conclusion of the TV series was intended to tie every story together with a final plot line. To me, the series was so extreme and fantastic that the conclusion was a little bit of a let down. But even so, it will always be one of my favorite series!
One of the main characters in Game of Thrones is Daenerys Targaryen better known as the Mother of Dragons. Daenerys, originally a child bride ends up with so much loss that when she hits rock bottom she decides to fight back. Daenerys gains countless followers, comrades and power. Daenerys was later named as the Mother of Dragons for a horrific reason. The Targaryen's were once well known for owning and taming dragons. Daenerys, one of the only living Targaryen's believed that it is impossible due to the extinction of dragons. She was presented with dragon eggs as a wedding gift. The eggs were believed to have no life in them considering they were fossilized but, surprising everyone they are awakened. The eggs hatch after Daenerys's greatest loss. She raises the dragons as if they were her own children and soon is labeled as the Mother of Dragons. Daenerys was in my opinion, was one of the strongest female roles on television or in a book series. Some of my favorite TV quotes were from Daenerys. Two of the quotes being, "When my dragons are grown, we will take back what was stolen from me and destroy those who wronged me!" And my all time favorite quote from Daenerys is, "Fire cannot kill a dragon." Which she says after her abusive brother is murdered with her consent for trying to betray her new family. SHe says the line because he would claim to be 'the last dragon' and Daenerys's line was to prove that to her he was not the last dragon.
Being one of the most influential and powerful female roles on television today, I thought she was a great choice in creating a drink based on her. The drink I chose to make is extremely similar to the drink on buzzfeed website. The drink is entitled, The Mother of Dragon's Champagne Cocktail. It's a simple drink using rose champagne and chucks of dragon fruit. I, however, decided to use rose wine over champagne out of personal taste. The result was fantastic!
